Coachella 2023

I make all my own custom festival apparel as well as apparel for my peers. I love music festivals. It gives space for people to just immerse themselves in music, but also a space for people to express themselves. Clothing is an amazing way for individuals to show their personalities in a physical way, but in everyday life, there are many spoken and unspoken rules about what people should and shouldn’t wear. Festivals remove the “rules” and allow for full freedom of expression in apparel, and it is, in my opinion, the best part of a music festival.

Inspiration

For Coachella 2023, I am drawing inspiration from headliners such as Bad Bunny and BLACKPINK, as well as from other trending apparel seen in the market.

Sketches

For initial sketching, I use my iPad and draw over a croquis in Procreate. The colors show initial and final ideas, but may change slightly during the fabric buying portion. The images below are split into 3 sections as there are 3 days of Coachella that need outfitted.

CLO 3D

I have been teaching myself to use CLO 3D to help speed up and perfect the pattern making and fitting process with the custom apparel I make. This saves time, decreases paper waste, and increases accuracy in pattern measurements. I have included photos and screenshots of my work space below to share this process.
